BWC is a fast growing independent firm of Corporate Recovery and Insolvency specialists.

Founded in Leeds in 2004 by Gary Blackburn and Paul Whitwam, BWC provides genuine partner led advice on all aspects of Corporate and Personal Insolvency and Recovery. We deliver carefully tailored solutions to businesses, individuals, their professional advisors and funders.

In 2008, BWC opened an office in Stockton on Tees, headed up by the resident Partner, David Willis. We now provide professional advice on a regional basis across North, South, East and West Yorkshire as well as to the Tees Valley and County Durham.

Our three Partners are all Licensed Insolvency Practitioners and bring together combined insolvency and recovery experience of over 70 years which, combined with a team of over 20 experienced and professional staff, makes BWC one of the most experienced and qualified teams in the North of England.

We work closely with local firms of accountants and solicitors as well as with banks, asset based lenders and other intermediaries. BWC is proud of its independence and guards it fiercely. Our specialism allows us to support local accountants and not compete with the services they offer. We recognise the very significant value which incumbent advisors bring to any set of circumstances and we seek to retain those services.

BWC has very strong relationships, built by its partners over 20 years, with the National clearing banks and with many National and Regional Asset Based Lenders. These relationships prove invaluable when formulating and delivering workable solutions which are acceptable to all stakeholder groups.

The ethos we share at BWC is one of support and assistance to businesses and individuals suffering financial difficulties. In every case, we seek to obtain a thorough understanding of the business and the problems facing it and we will formulate, with the existing management, a tailored solution to its problems. In many cases, this can be achieved without the need for a formal insolvency procedure. Invariably, however, in some instances a formal insolvency procedure will be necessary to protect the interests of all stakeholder groups. When this is necessary, we have the expertise and the resource to deal with the insolvency in an efficient and sympathetic manner.

We always encourage businesses, individuals and their advisors to seek early advice, as by doing so, the range of options available to them is generally far greater and the chances of business survival much higher. All meetings are conducted in complete confidence and initial consultations are always free of charge. We react very quickly and meet with clients at their own convenience. Initial advice is always provided by experienced recovery professionals and in most cases by one of our Licensed Insolvency Practitioner partners. We do not employ the services of Business Development Managers.
